Chiapa

Nestlé Mexico has invested more than 100 million pesos (CHF 8.8 million) in the Chiapa de Corzo plant, which will become the CoffeeMate coffee creamer production center. It will supply not only the Mexican, but also the Central American, South American and Caribbean markets, and will generate sales of more than one thousand million pesos. Chiapa de Corzo is in the south-eastern state of Chiapas.

The project, which will begin in October 2009 and includes the comprehensive streamlining of the plant, will foster development because coffee creamers will be manufactured in Mexico and imports from the United States will stop.

Since 1970, when the plant started operations, Nestlé has helped in Creating Shared Value together with the state government, the countryside and its people. Buying coffee, cocoa and milk in the region is very important for the company and the state development, and results in an economic contribution of over 708 million pesos annually and the creation of more than 25,000 indirect jobs. With the plant’s reconversion, Nestlé continues to considerably strengthen the state’s development.
