Nestlé’s milk powder factory in Hailar, Inner Mongolia opened on July 5, 2007, with employees of the new plant taking part in traditional celebrations.

A pioneering investment, the factory was inaugurated by regional authorities of the Chinese Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Nestlé Chairman and Chief Executive, Peter Brabeck-Letmathe.

The factory brings direct employment opportunities, multiplied by indirect economic benefits in the wider community.

Nestlé buys fresh milk from some 40,000 Chinese farmers in total and provides them with an overall regular income of around CHF 500,000 per day.

Milk from Inner Mongolian farmers is helping Nestlé to cope with increasing consumer demand for the company's milk products.
