This Healthy Kids programme is focused on a combination of sports, nutritional counseling and individual meal plans. A key programme goal is to enhance children individual BMI and skin fold, and to get the full involvement of their family. This holistic programme is based on educational workshops, physical evaluations, a triathlon competition and individual nutritional counseling.

An initial assessment carried out in those communities showed that rice, pasta and fried foods constitute the main foods consumed and physical activity levels are low. In this community, many children showed signs of malnourishment, while others were overweight or obese.

This programme shows encouraging results, in particular a significant change in eating habits. It also showed the need to have a continuous education programme based on involvement of the children assisted and their respective families, so that they get more aware and critical about  their own  social and health lifestyle.
