Over the last six years, we have worked with the Rainforest Alliance to develop the Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program of integrated coffee farm management practices.

The farmers who join the programme are encouraged to adopt best practice in sustainability: to care about the environment, to protect water sources and to prevent soil erosion from their land.

Rewarding farmers for higher-quality coffee by paying them more has brought about a change in the farmers’ mindset. The AAA programme motivates suppliers to make positive changes over the long term, and to act as entrepreneurs. This has seen them invest their earnings in their farms, their living conditions and their communities.

Coffee is now seen by the farmers as a valuable asset, not only for themselves but for their cooperatives, their communities and their country.
