In addition to being the world’s largest source of micronutrient fortification, Nestlé has developed a business strategy to reach lower into the base of the income pyramid through Popularly Positioned Products. These offer superior nutritional value at lower prices, achieved through using direct-to-store and door-to-door distribution systems. Nestlé’s extensive involvement in rural development also has a major impact on nutrition, both for the farmers, employees and suppliers in the Nestlé value chain, and for consumers, who have access to an increased supply of nutritious food.
