Saving water through improved irrigation, Vietnam

Through a train-the-trainer project sponsored by Nestlé, Vietnamese farmers are learning that they can increase the quality of their coffee yields by using less water. They are also reducing their dependence on the boom and bust cycles of the global coffee market by diversifying their crops and creating small enterprises.

Environmental award in the Philippines
The Manila Water Corporation, in collaboration with the Philippine Department of Environment and Natural Resources and The National Water Resources Board, awarded Nestlé "The Environmental Guardian Award" in recognition of Nestlé’s conservation efforts of the country's groundwater resources.
Clean drinking water project - India
In 1999, around its factory in the state of Punjab, Nestlé India initiated a project to provide clean drinking water facilities in village schools, create awareness in the community about water issues and involve them in improving the water situation.
Working with farmers to ensure water quality
In 1992, Nestlé Waters established the agricultural advisory firm Agrivair, based in Vittel, France to assist local farmers in "greening" their agricultural practices. Agrivair supports local farmers with grants, research and technical assistance.
Cocoa Propagation Project
Traditional propagation techniques suffer from many challenges. The main difficulties are maintaining the homogeneity of plant material (an exact replicate of the mother plant) during large-scale propagation and a lack of deep penetrating roots, thus increasing susceptibility to water stress.
