Nestlé Nutrition Institute: Focusing on the complementary feeding of infants and toddlers
On November 30, 2012, the Nestlé Nutrition Institute (NNI) held a satellite symposium at the Excellence in Paediatrics congress in Madrid, Spain.
Successful complementary feeding means that as well as being safe to consume, nutrition must be aligned with developmental needs. However, this is not always achieved.
The intake of environmental contaminants is one of several safety concerns.
In addition, a few simple changes to infant diets to encourage acceptance of a variety of foods can have significant impact upon long-term eating habits and health.
Awareness of these two key issues was the focus of this Nestlé Nutrition Institute satellite symposium.
