Nestlé China donates supplies to Sichuan disaster zone; Nestlé (Thai) helps Myanmar after cyclone


Nestlé China logoNestlé (China) Ltd. has donated Nestlé products to the people in the Sichuan earthquake disaster zone. Nestlé expressed the Company’s deepest sympathy and condolence to the people affected by this disaster.

“As an expression of our concern and support to the people in the disaster area and to make a contribution to the Chinese Government’s disaster relief effort, Nestlé (China) Ltd. is donating more than 10,000 cases of Nestlé products to the people in the disaster zone,” said Mr. Patrice Bula, Chairman and CEO of Nestlé (China) Ltd. Donated products include UHT milk,bottled water, UHT Nesvita and chocolate wafer.
 
Nestlé established immediate contact with the Sichuan Provincial Government Disaster Relief Control Center to pledge support for the government relief efforts. Under the guidance of the center, Nestlé delivered UHT milk and wafer products to the badly affected Quinghuan County area on May 15. Bottled water was sent from Shanghai and Tianjin on May 14, and further supplies are being organized for shipment to Sichuan from other locations around the country.

In Myanmar, despite extremely difficult conditions, Nestlé (Thai) Ltd distributed Pure Life water to residents of the capital, Yangon on May 9, one week after the cyclone struck the coast of Myanmar and the Irrawaddy delta. The Nestlé Myanmar office in Yangon is providing clean water to people in neighboring communities, and Nestlé Myanmar Nutrition Advisers with medical training have joined the recovery teams.
