Nestlé has officially donated the new classroom building to the Zhuwa Primary School in Pixian County, Sichuan Province, with the full endorsement of the Chinese Government.
Nestlé’s CEO of Greater China Region, Patrice Bula, Nestlé employees and Government leaders of the Sichuan Province as well as representative of the Sichuan Provincial Charity Federation participated in the opening ceremony.
Less than a year after the earthquake disaster in Sichuan, more than 700 students and teachers of Zhuwa Primary School in Pixian County have been able to move from temporary shelter to a new school.
In September 2008, Nestle, together with the Pixian County government and its Education Bureau, begun a project of jointl reconstruction of the building of Zhuwa Primary School. Nestlé donated RMB 2 million (CHF 350,000) and more than 10,000 books to the school.
Earlier, Nestlé in China and its employees donated about RMB 10 million (CHF 1.75 million) in the form of Nestlé products, tents and cash donations including funds raised by Nestlé employees in the Philippines and Japan for earthquake victims.
