We were only expecting one from the first sonogram I had. We went in for the ultrasound and I remember the technician's big grin across her face and her sticking two fingers up. She told us that we were going to have twins and that they were going to be identical boys. I just started crying and just couldn't believe it. My husband just had the biggest grin on his face, I'm sure his face hurt from grinning so much after we left.
My pregnancy went pretty good. We were scheduled for a c-section on Aug. 8th and had to go in a do a stress test on th 7th at the hospital. When we got there thay put all the machines on me and one of the babies' heart rates started dropping so they wanted to keep me overnight for observation - since we were going to have them in the morning anyways.
Then they called and said they were going to do an emergency c-section at 7p.m. I was so nervous and so was my husband. They wheeled me upstairs and stared getting me ready. They took me back to the O.R. around 7 and we had 2 beautiful boys at 7:31 and 7:33. They were very tiny and were very lucky to make it as long as they did, because their umbilical cords were entangled 7 times and one of them had a knot in it.
They came at 34 weeks and since they were so early they needed to go to the NICU, but the hospital were I was at was completly full, so they had to transport them to the nearest children's hospital. It was about 30 minutes away. I got to see them for about 5 minutes before they took them and it was very sad that they weren't going to be there with me. But I knew that they would be taken well care of at the other hospital. The boys did so well once they got them over.
