Melting chocolate in the microwave
Submitted by: BusyBetty
From: United States of America

Question:

Procedure for melting chocoate chips (white & semi-sweet) in the microwave instead of a double boiler.

Answer:

Hi Betty,
Here is the information you need;
White morsels - Microwave 1 cup (6 oz) morsels in small, microwave-safe bowl on medium-high (70% power) for 1 minute; stir. Then microwave at additional 10 to 20 second intervals if needed, stirring until smooth.
Semi-sweet morsels - Microwave 1 cup (6 oz) morsels in a small microwave-safe bowl on high (100% power) for 1 minute; stir. Then microwave at additional 10 to 20 second intervals if needed, stirring until smooth. If you are melting 2 cups of morsels add a few seconds to the initial phase.
Regards,
Gilla
