Leaving Home

I remember my first Christmas season away from home. I was very poor and had my first son. I wanted very much to send presents home to my family but was unable to purchase any. I remember shopping in the grocery store, I thought to myself that I wouldn't be home to make the cookies, fudge, marzipan, or other goodies that I made every year. What would the family eat while they decorated the tree?! Would they buy some to replace the goodness that I would always make since I was 4 years old?! It wouldn't do! So I bought the supplies and I spent an entire weekend baking! I packaged my confections up, mailed them off and It has become a new family tradition! I still send the goodies every year!
