Communities are also supported by a number of independent foundations.
The Nestlé Foundation for the Study of Problems of Nutrition in the World
This foundation was established in 1966 by a donation by the Nestlé Company on the occasion of its centenary. The Foundation was self-constituting and formed a council consisting of five internationally well-known Council Members. Fondation Nestlé pour l'Art
Nestlé S.A.'s long commitment to the arts was specifically recognised in 1991 by the creation of the Fondation Nestlé pour l'Art on the occasion of the company's 125th anniversary. Its mission is to encourage and support artistic quality and innovation in Switzerland and to promote international contacts. Acting in a field complementary to that of the founding company, being audacious and taking risks, unlocking potential, encouraging a new approach and striving for excellence at all levels are the challenges the Foundation faces every day. The Foundation operates in the areas of visual arts, music, theatre and other related activities. It also supports projects whose interdisciplinary character exclude them from support from more specialised institutions.
