Instructions on the back of an Nestlé Easter egg box
CLEAR AND SIMPLE: Instructions on back of pack to explain to children how to recycle their Easter egg boxes. Point 5 reads "Next year your Nestlé Easter egg could come in a box made from the one you recycle this year".
Reducing our impact
As part of our drive to reduce the impact of packaging on the environment Nestlé supports an integrated approach with investment in innovative materials, source reduction, reuse, energy recovery and recycling. Wherever possible we use recyclable packaging materials and in this example have used the entire back of the pack to communicate this to our consumers.

Encouraging children
This Easter, on Smarties and KitKat Easter eggs we encouraged kids to recycle the packaging with an easy to follow guide.

Fridey Cordingley, Head of 'Recycle Now' at WRAP, an British based agency that helps companies reduce waste and recycle more, says: “The work Nestlé is doing in terms of encouraging people to think about the environment is a great step forward. The easy to follow guide on its two top selling Easter eggs is a great move for the industry, helping to encourage people to recycle more and making it easy and fun for children and adults alike."

Recycled again and again and again...
Nestlé Rowntree's 2008 standard Easter Egg cartons, pictured above, are made from recycled board, which according to WRAP is more environmentally friendly than virgin board. All packs will feature the WRAP approved 'Recycle Now' logo and clearly show consumers the recycled content of the packs. In addition, Nestlé Rowntree’s Easter Egg packs will be made using recycled plastics, which will save hundreds of tonnes of virgin material each year and the egg trays will be made from R-PET, made from 50% recycled content.
