Vosges-Antwerp transport route – Belgium - France / Switzerland
In 2006, Nestlé Waters achieved major emissions savings along the Vosges-Antwerp transport route.
Prior to this, empty containers were transported by truck from Belgium to the Vittel and Contrex sites in France, where they were filled and
then transported again by truck to Antwerp. Nestlé Waters proactively decided to replace road transportation by rail.
There are currently 143 trains filled with pallets that travel to Antwerp every year, producing impressive results.
To date, Nestlé Waters’ carbon dioxide emissions for this particular route have been reduced by 80%.
Similarly, Nestlé Waters has recently combined road and rail transportation for product deliveries in Switzerland, resulting in a 62 %
decrease in carbon dioxide emissions along this transport route.
