Improved truck payload - Canada
In 2003, Nestlé Waters significantly increased road transportation and the payload (load in truck) of trucks in Canada,
from 23 tonnes to 27 tonnes, as a result of the Canadian government’s approval of 3-axel trucks. This was good news for both Nestlé
Waters and the environment as a truck makes considerably fewer trips if it is able to transport more at one time. In 2005, by closely
collaborating with customers to add an extra layer of bottles to each pallet and the use of lightweight trucks, the payload increased to 30
tonnes. Such initiatives have reduced the Company’s carbon dioxide emissions in Canada by 24 %.
