Encouraging children to drink water – Aquapod
Nestlé Waters North America reshapes children's’ beverage options with the introduction of
Aquapod™. Aquapod bottles are 11 oz. (3.25 dl) of spring water in a
fun round shape that kids like. “Today, too many kids hydrate themselves with calorie-burdened, sugary drinks.
With childhood obesity on the rise, having more than tripled over the past 30 years in kids ages 6 to 11, it’s important to help them make
better choices in terms of calorie intake and exercise,” says paediatrician and author Dr. Jennifer Trachtenberg.
Kids need more water than you may know - How to make sure they get it.
Help your kids stay hydrated! Here are some tips from Dr. Trachtenburg on how to get your kids
drinking healthy from an early stage.
- Begin to encourage your children to drink water at 6 months old.
- Try to give your children water after they eat, to encourage the taste for it, because kids are thirsty after they eat.
- Serve as a role model for your children by drinking water in front of your kids, Try to change your habits when it comes
to drinking sugary sodas.
- Try giving young children (8-12 months or so) water in ‘sippy’ cups in the bathtub – the mess of trying to help children
learn how to drink doesn’t get all over the floor.
- Freeze water bottles the night before to put in lunchboxes for the following day’s lunch – kids will have a cold water
at lunch or after school activities
Children need approximately 22-30Oz. Of fluid daily including:
- 2 cups low-fat milk
- 4-6 Oz. Watered-down juice
- Water
