Facilitating access to water for rural populations - Pakistan
Nestlé Pakistan helps rural populations who do not have easy access to drinking water through the installation of tube-wells and
hand pumps. Two such tube wells have been completed in the villages of Dunyapur and Chishtian, each with populations of about 3’000. Where
previously these communities had to carry water daily from long distances, now they have water available at their doorstep. Similarly, to
meet water needs of the inhabitants of the desert regions of Cholistan and Thar, where water is scarce, 300 hand pumps have been installed
between 2003 and 2005 in collaboration with local NGOs, bringing much awaited
relief to the local populations.
