Energy from coffee grounds, Colombia
RECYCLING COFFEE GROUNDS AS FUEL: Renewable fuel from spent coffee grounds provides 13% of the total energy required at Bugalagrande factory in Colombia.

The Coffee Waste Disposal located in our Bugalagrande’s factory aims to increase energy efficiency, generate fewer emissions of greenhouse gases to the environment, improve the quality of wastewater, mitigating the environmental impact caused by the manufacturing process through the reuse of waste coffee.

Solid and liquid wastes of coffee are used as energy in our operations. This renewable fuel provides 13% of the total energy required in the factory and has 95% lower CO2 emissions than the fossil fuel it replaces.
