I am in my second year with Nestlé Group Audit and most of all I enjoy the great exposure to cross-functional areas within the company paired with the opportunity to discuss on a daily basis with top management.
During the audit assignments, you have meetings with employees across diverse functions in order to understand the processes and market context. In the afternoon, you would perform data analysis and audit checks, in order to share your doubts with your stakeholders in the following day and update them on audit issues that may come across. From my personal experience, individual responsibility and autonomy is expected in our job position.
My greatest challenge so far has been auditing in Hong Kong, as it was the first time that I was exposed to the asian culture. I needed to adapt my communication style and understand the message that the auditees were trying to communicate, especially at times when there was a limited knowledge of English language. That’s why I believe Operational Audit is an excellent experience not only professionally but personally, as it allows you to be introduced to different markets and cultures around the world.
