Pacific Alliance Youth Summit

With its participation in the Second Pacific Alliance Youth Summit in Santiago, Chile, on 31 May 2017, the Company endorses its commitment to boost education and youth employability and joins forces with 37 companies from the private sector, the International Youth Organization and academic institutions from the four countries of the Pacific Alliance to launch the Alliance for YOUth.

Nestlé founded the Alliance for YOUth in Europe in 2014. It is a part of our global commitment to youth employment.

According to ILO data, 16.8% of young people in Latin America under the age of 25 were unemployed in 2016. Through the implementation of the Nestlé Needs YOUth in the four member countries of the Pacific Alliance, Nestlé will create numerous jobs, apprenticeships and traineeship opportunities in these nations by the end of 2018. We will also provide readiness-for-work training for young people over the same period.

These and other commitments will be endorsed within the framework of Second Pacific Alliance Youth Summit in Santiago, Chile, with the presence of representatives of the Ministries of Labor and Education of Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, as well as of the Deputy to the State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation of the Swiss Government, the Ministry of Education of Argentina, leaders of the academic sector, entrepreneurs and young people.
