Nestlé has pledged to donate at least CHF 100,000 to fight the Ebola disease in West Africa and to support the efforts of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and global charity Caritas.
The donation, coming from Nestlé and Nestlé employee contributions, is in addition to the company’s ongoing partnership with the IFRC to contribute CHF 5 million to support the IFRC in improving rural communities’ access to water and sanitation over the next five years.
The Nestlé donation to fight Ebola is being done in conjunction with World Cocoa Foundation (WCF), of which Nestlé is a member. WCF has pledged a joint CHF 571,000 donation, which includes the amount being donated by Nestlé.
WCF has over 100 member companies that promote sustainable cocoa economy by providing cocoa farmers with the tools they need to grow more and better cocoa.
