What could we do better?
Micronutrients such as iron, vitamin A, iodine and zinc are essential for growth and development. Despite their vital role, over one-third of the world’s population, mainly in developing countries, suffer from micronutrient deficiencies.
Nestlé is committed to helping reduce micronutrient deficiencies on a global scale.
Working with local governments and health authorities to identify widespread nutritional ‘gaps’ in diets, we focus on the fortification of popular foods such as bouillon cubes to help prevent micronutrient deficiencies.
In 2014, we provided more than 183 billion servings of fortified foods worldwide. We've committed to provide 200 billion servings of micronutrient-fortified foods and beverages annually worldwide by 2016, with a special focus on children and women of childbearing age.
