Health conditions such as obesity, diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease, are placing an unsustainable burden on our healthcare systems, systems which are based on treating sick people rather than preventing illness.
Formed in 2011, Nestlé Health Science is a health-science company engaged in advancing the role of nutritional therapy to change the course of health for consumers, patients and our partners in healthcare.
EXPANDING THE BOUNDARIES OF NUTRITION: Greg Behar, CEO of Nestlé Health Science and Ed Baetge, Director of the Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences, explain what science-based personalised nutrition is all about.
Personalised health science nutrition has the opportunity to offer a compelling and cost effective solution to many of today’s chronic and acute medical conditions and diseases.
We believe that health science nutrition will become personalised in two different ways. Firstly, it will become targeted at specific needs. For example, products for dysphagia patients with swallowing disorders to reduce the likelihood of complications such as lung infections.
Secondly, nutrition will gradually become personalised through greater understanding of genetic and environmental interactions with food.
