Caring for water in each of our sites is what we call water stewardship: the responsible planning and management of resources.
It means using water in a way that is socially equitable, environmentally sustainable and economically beneficial. We achieve this through an inclusive approach that involves site and catchment-based actions.
Good water stewards understand their own water use, the context of the catchment and shared risks in terms of water governance, water balance, water quality and other important water-related issues. With this understanding, water stewards engage in individual and collective actions that benefit people and nature.
Our approach builds on five steps:
- To save water
- To protect the quality of water source and catchments
- To share our knowledge
- To contribute to communities
- To certify our factories to AWS standard
In 2017 we committed to certifying all of our bottling sites to the Alliance for Water Stewardship Standard by 2025. This standard requires water users to understand and act collectively on water challenges.
