Dog Chow is born
The beginning of an iconic brand - PURINA Dog Chow would go on to become one of the bestselling dog food brands in the US.
1933
Fueling exploration
Admiral Byrd’s famous sled dogs set off on their two-year expedition to the Antarctic - they were among the first dogs to enjoy Dog Chow.
1957
A kibble innovation
PURINA Dog Chow became the first pet food made using extrusion technology, a process developed and perfected at PURINA creating the industry standard shapes now known as kibble.

A major milestone
Just 32 years after we began, Dog Chow became the leading dry dog food in the US.

Puppy formula launched

Packages of PURINA Dog Chow begin featuring the claim, "proven to help dogs live longer, healthier lives," based on PURINA's Life Span Study.
