When to use

This component can be used on an information page to spotlight a story that complements the surrounding content.

Promoting our stories in this way helps to reinforce our messaging by highlighting the actions we’re taking and encouraging website visitors to dive deeper into a particular topic.

How to use

Adding this component to a page is very simple. Just select the Story and the content is pulled in directly from the story page. If you would like to write a customized Story Promo Text and Author Role, you can complete these fields on your Story page. If these fields are empty, alternative fields will be used (see below).

The banner will display in blue, green or orange. The color will be determined by the category selected on the Story page.

Similar to the Feature Banner component, this is a full-width component. It's not designed to work inside a layout component.

Additional considerations

The following fields from the Story content type are used in the Story Promo Banner:

  • Alternative title (if this field is empty, the Title field will be displayed). Recommended length: 20 - 30 characters (max. 50).
  • Story promo text (if this field is empty, the Introduction text field will be displayed). Recommended length: 200 - 250 characters (max. 300).
  • Author image (if this field is empty, no image will be displayed).
  • Author name (if this field is empty, no name will be displayed).
  • Author role (if this field is empty, Author biography will be displayed, and if both fields are empty, nothing will be displayed).
