Nestlé receives ‘Good Egg Award’ for cage-free goal

Nestlé has today received a 'Good Egg Award' from Compassion in World Farming (CIWF).

The award is for Nestlé's decision to source only eggs from cage-free hens for its food products in Europe by 2020.

Nestlé has set a global goal to source cage-free eggs for all of its food products globally by 2025, with the transition to happen by 2020 in Europe and the U.S. In some parts of the world, such as in Europe, over 40% of eggs used by Nestlé are already from cage-free sources.

Reflecting Nestlé's ongoing commitment to ensure decent farm animal welfare standards, the company has also just signed a global collaboration agreement with CIWF. This will help define priorities to improve farm animal welfare further in the Nestlé supply chain, including sharing best practices and offering training for Nestlé staff.

Improving animal welfare forms part of Nestlé’s efforts to use traceable and responsibly sourced ingredients in its products.
