First harvest for Colombian Nescafé Plan coffee farmers

The first Nescafé made with the crop of coffee cherries grown from the Nescafé Plan harvest is on shelves in the UK. Limited edition Nescafé Gold Blend First Harvest includes coffee harvested from some of the 13 million coffee plantlets distributed to farmers in Colombia’s Valle del Cauca region.

The plan, which Nestlé launched in 2010, is a five-year, CHF 350 million global initiative to ensure a long-term supply of high quality, sustainably sourced coffee.

More than 170,000 farmers in ten countries including Mexico, Brazil, India, China and Vietnam are taking part in the Nescafé Plan, which was developed in conjunction with the Rainforest Alliance.
