Nestlé: New Focus for US Coffee Business

As previously announced, Nestlé confirms that it has sold to Sara Lee Corporation its Hills Bros, MJB and Chase & Sanborn coffee brands, as well as Nestlé's roast and ground coffee plant located in Suffolk, Virginia, which produces coffee for retail and foodservice customers.
Sara Lee will also offer to hire the approximately 210 employees at the Suffolk facility in the same capacity or in comparable jobs.

The terms of the agreement were not disclosed. After extensive evaluation, Nestlé decided to sell the three brands in order to focus its US coffee strategy on the new premium line of Nescafé, which was launched in September on the West Coast. Nescafé of the world's largest coffee brand and is sold in more than 100 countries. Nestlé's other major coffee brand in the U.S.A, Taster's Choice, will remain within the company's portfolio.
