Tasty and balanced diets

delicious food on the table

We offer a wide range of foods, beverages, and nutrition services at scale, helping to bring tasty and balanced diets within reach for billions of people across all eating occasions and life stages.

Whenever we develop products, their safety, taste, texture, nutritional profile, price and quality all need to be considered. Improvements in any of these areas must not come at the expense of the planet.

With our strong research and development organization, we are uniquely positioned to deliver differentiating, science-based solutions and enable millions of people to access affordable and nutritious food and beverages.

Why and how we’re growing our nutritious food

Our priority is to grow our more nutritious portfolio by continuing to invest in R&D to innovate and renovate our products including through micronutrient fortification.

Increasing positive ingredients such as whole grains

Our approach includes offering more nutrient-dense products by increasing positive nutrients and ingredients often lacking in diets, such as whole grains or essential vitamins and minerals.

Whole grain contains fiber, carbohydrates, proteins, some lipids and B vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. We aim to make whole grains the number one ingredient in as many of our breakfast cereals as possible and advocate for policies that help to increase whole grain consumption. Wherever you see the Nestlé Green Banner on pack, you can be sure the breakfast cereal contains at least 8g of whole grain in each 30g serving.

Reducing nutrients such as sugar and sodium

We continue to work on sugar and sodium reductions as part of our efforts to improve the overall nutritional profile of our products. To support health authorities and the World Health Organization's efforts in reducing the sodium intakes in populations, we – along with other food and beverage companies – committed to reduce sodium in frequently consumed products by 2025.

By the end of 2025, we met our objectives for seven-out-of-eight priority categories, ensuring that at least 90% of sales volume in these categories meets the defined sodium targets.

We continue to reduce sugars, salt and saturated fats, including by exploring new proprietary technologies. Our new patented sugar reduction technology reduces intrinsic sugar in ingredients such as malt or milk by up to 30%, with a minimal impact on taste and texture.

Offering plant-based products

We offer a vast portfolio of plant-based options to meet consumer demand. In the United States our Natural Bliss brand launched a milk alternative that combines a unique blend of oat and fava bean protein, providing high-quality protein to bolster nutritional value.

In Belgium and the Netherlands, we launched the Garden Gourmet Veggie Burger Deluxe range which contains more than 60g of vegetables, pulses and quinoa per serving.

In Central America, our Maggi Rinde-carne is a soy-based product that allows consumers to prepare meals with less meat while maintaining taste and texture, aligning with Nestlé's commitment to offer affordable, nutritious, and plant-based food options. Developed by Nestlé's R&D team, the meat extender is designed to help consumers in reducing meat consumption without compromising culinary experience.

Providing nutritional solutions for specific needs and conditions

Nestlé offers also an extensive portfolio of science-based consumer health, medical nutrition and supplement brands. It is a global leader in vitamins, minerals, herbals and supplements.

SimpLink provides a more efficient, easier and hygienic way for carers to provide medical nutrition to individuals who are tube-fed. It eliminates risk of spillage and reduces potential risk of contamination through portion-sized, squeezable bottles that fit directly into feeding tubes.

Introducing culinary innovations focused on protein

We are expanding our culinary portfolio with high protein products and exploring affordable foods options that help to close the protein gap that exists for many people around the world.

Transforming the lives of people living with Phenylketonuria (PKU)

Phenylketonuria, or PKU, is a rare genetic disorder. For most people, protein in foods is broken down during digestion into amino acids, which are the ’building blocks’ of protein that our bodies use for various functions, like maintaining muscles or repairing tissues

People with PKU cannot break down one of the amino acids, which means there is a risk that it builds up in their body with serious health effects, like brain damage.

Through the Vitaflo Live Life Well program, we work in partnership with health care professionals, children and adults with PKU and their families, in order to create products that combine the best of cutting edge research with the lifestyle demands of modern living, ensuring the most acceptable products are available.
