Nestlé announces final re-organization plan for its Swiss-based information technology (IT) setup

Back to Press releases
Vevey, Switzerland

Following completion of the consultation process, Nestlé today informed its employees about the final re-organization plan for its Swiss-based information technology (IT) setup. After a detailed review of all employees’ proposals, the company has identified and taken into account a number of employee recommendations.

Nestlé has therefore adjusted its original re-organization plan announced on May 29, 2018 as follows:

  • The number of IT employees operating from Switzerland will be around 150 compared to the 100 staff originally announced in May;
  • The implementation of the re-organization plan will be further extended into the second half of 2020.

These adjustments will allow the IT function to facilitate the transition to the new operating model and to better support the needs of the company in the longer term.

Nestlé understands this is a difficult time for its employees and is fully committed to mitigate the social impact of the re-organization, which will now be implemented. The company and the Employees Representatives are currently negotiating a social plan. Nestlé will endeavour to mitigate redundancies through early retirements and outplacement support.

In addition, Swiss-based IT employees will have the opportunity to apply for the more than 200 open positions in Nestlé’s hubs in Barcelona and Milan.

Furthermore, Nestlé is in ongoing discussions with third parties and partners, who have expressed an interest in possibly recruiting its IT employees. Nestlé will start holding networking events with other companies, beginning in September 2018 to support its employees in finding new employment opportunities.
